As part of the world-leading renewable energy group REG, Living Fuels has achieved a major breakthrough in transferring energy from a renewable source into carbon neutral electricity.
The source is used cooking oil, and the process avoids any of the disadvantages associated with biofuels. Renewable Energy Generation owns and operates wind farms in Canada and the UK, and the latest development work by its UK subsidiary Living Fuels gives the group another platform for generating emissions-free electricity. It has perfected a unique process, recycling and purifying used cooking oil without the addition of any chemicals or supplements. This recycled fuel is called LF100.
Anyone who throws away used cooking oil is making two big mistakes:
- It clogs up drains and sewers and damages watercourses
- It contains unused energy which we cannot afford to waste
Used cooking oil is contained in certain biofuels, but has only been effective with the addition of chemicals and additives. This is what makes LF100 different. Living Fuels has invented a process which eliminates the need to add any other substance. Impurities absorbed in cooking are removed. LF100 is purified vegetable oil.
We are already collecting oil from many different sources including:
- Local authorities
- Schools
- Government agencies
- Hotels
- Independent pubs and restaurants
- Large pub and restaurant chains
- Food manufacturers
- Prisons
- Ferry Companies
We are always in need of other sources of WCO (Waste Cooking Oil) so please take some time to look at some of the reasons why you should consider recycling your WCO and help us produce more carbon neutral energy.
