Recycling Waste Cooking Oil: Carbon Neutral Energy
The use of Waste Cooking Oil (WCO) as a source of renewable energy production carries with it many advantages, the most important of these being the effect on carbon release in the atmosphere. Because used oil is technically a waste product, the use of it in producing power means that the only carbon being released into the atmosphere is carbon that was already present before the original plant absorbed it to grow. Once it has served its original purpose we can give it an extra life cycle by producing carbon neutral energy that is essential for helping us create better and greener energy solutions for our future.
As defined by the Department of Energy & Climate Change:
“Carbon neutral means that – through a transparent process of calculating emissions, reducing those emissions and offsetting residual emissions – net carbon emissions equal zero.”
You have already paid for your carbon footprint when you used your oil to cook your chips, so please make your contribution to creating a healthier environment by recycling your waste cooking oil at one of our recycling points.
